Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Test Series 2013-14 ends 1-1

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Test Series Ends in a Tie

Pakistan fights back to level the series - January 2014

We witnessed a splendid series between two teams that face one another quite often. After losing the ODI series, Sri Lanka fought back well. They put up a strong fight in the first test against Pakistan. Before anyone knew it, they were unexpectedly 1-0 up in the series; they outplayed Pakistan.

Pakistan went into the third test hoping to win and level the series. However, this necessary victory never seemed possible for Pakistan through the course of the test.

From day 1 of this test, all the  way to day 4 - victory was not even in sight. They trailed by near 90 runs in the first inning. On top of that Sri Lanka managed to play 100 overs in their second inning. But Pakistani bowlers bowled well to restrict Sri Lanka to a lead of 301 runs.

When Pakistan came out on day 5 afternoon- they had 59 overs to chase 301. Pakistan is a team that hardly scores 300 runs in a full day - but today was different. It was do-or-die for them. They knew this was Dav Whatmore's last assignment with Pakistan - Team Pakistan made sure that they give a good send-off to their mentor. Pakistan batted superbly to chase the target within the given overs. This chase was made possible by Azhar Ali, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Pakistan's skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq.

Congratulations to team Pakistan on winning this test match and leveling the series.
Enjoy!
