Analysis

The two teams, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, go head to head to again with in the same year. At the start of the year they contested for and gave an entertaining cricket series - in ODIs, Tests and Twenty20s. Now they face again on different soil.

Sri Lanka is hosting Pakistan this time. They have the advantage of home-soil. But this is not the only advantage; Pakistan is just coming out of their season break. They haven't played international cricket in months now. Their last test series was against the same opponent - which is a distant history that all Pakistanis remember well (as it ended in their favor).

Much has changed in Pakistan in these past few months. Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) chairman has changed multiple times during this period; though this is a usual matter now. More importantly, the coach has changed. A former coach, Waqar Younis, has returned. It will be interesting to see how far he carries his team. His last tenure was not too bad; however, the sad incident, spot-fixing issue of Aamer, Asif and Butt, occurred while he was the head coach.

This series also marks the end of an amazing career. Mahela Jayawardene will be retiring from test cricket after the second test against Pakistan. He is one player who will most definitely be missed.
